Fan works but lights wont turn on after being taken apart?

We took apart 3 fans and sprayed the gold pieces a nickel finish. Looks good, but once we put them back together 2 of the fans lights won't turn on. We only took down the blades, gl globes and top ceiling piece, we left the guts up there. The fans come on fine, so there is power. We have changed out the bulbs incase of breakage during the process. We've wiggled the wires and still nothing... any professionals with ideas? Anyone else ever have this problem?
