Why there are very less sports cars in india?

i am an NRI living in dubai...i just visited india (mumbai)..but i can see all cheap dumb cars like the tata indica.. Hyundai santro and rickshaws i10 and i20 and .and all small cars i could rarely see good cars like Mercedes and BMW and all cool car ..here i Dubai u can find hummer..and Mercedes ia common here..but no in Mumbai why? is the reason that ppl are not rich or"they are KANJOOS"? i dont think that they are not rich i know there are many rich ppl in mumbai... but i want to know why all sucking cars are there in india!
