How to hug some one the same height as you?

I really like this guy and i kno he likes me but at the moment we are still friends but sometimes he complains because he feels that i slouch when i hug him. How do i hug someone that is the same height as me? do i hug him around the waist or the neck? i really need all opinions especially guys lol.
