I have never been religious but im thinking of going to a lutheran church can anyone tell me about it?

i used to attend a baptist church sometimes im a single mom and i think my daughter would benefit from church the last one i went to kind of made me feel like crap they said sinlge parents are the doenfall of society. i have old fashioned belirfa and i hear lutheran is close to catholic. anything u can tell me would be great thanks so much
